One of the
more popular ways of using the Internet is with audio clips. There
are two basic ways of delivering audio over the net, streaming
and download. With streaming audio the clip is loaded "upon demand"
which means only the portion of the clip playing is being transmitted
to your computer. There is no requirement for download and the
clip will play instantly. The entire clip can also be downloaded.
The downloading of files can often take an extensive amount of
time since audio file sizes are often very large. Downloading
is appropriate when the clip is small in file size and the the
